Alternative Wedding Dresses

Chic southern wedding Gold yarra valley wedding Kangaroo valley weddingIt all started with the final episode of Gossip Girl. I must admit that I never really got into that show. But I watched the final episode because I saw a picture of Blair Waldorf’s blue wedding dress online and that was it. I was hooked on the idea of alternative wedding dresses for that special day. I’ve always been a sucker for fancy white traditional wedding dresses and excitement of trying them on. I have this idea at the back of my mind that if I wear a traditional wedding dress, I can hang it on the wall of my lady cave/office after marriage as another way to enjoy the dress.

Having said that, there is something oh so titillating about alternative wedding dresses. Coloured dresses. Sequined dresses. Dresses that can be worn over and over again after the big day. Dresses that make you feel special without necessarily waiting four months plus for it to be ready. This brings me back to the final episode of Gossip Girl. When I think of alternative wedding dresses, I think of a hassle-free search for THE dress! I might be wrong on that. These dresses also remind me of glamorous affairs with a laidback vibe to it.

I’m not sure that I’ll be willing to ditch the dream of a white dress for a coloured one in the future, but I love the fact that it is always an option. I also feel like alternative wedding dresses are more suited to couples that want to have a fun, relaxed and glamorous wedding on a budget (without the need to elope). I’ll talk more about that in another post. For now, enjoy these beautiful pictures of gorgeous brides in alternate dresses.

What’s your preference: the traditional white dress? Or a coloured dress?
